Death of respected Donegal GAA commentator

The late Séamus Mac Géidigh

Donegal's RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta broadcaster Séamus Mac Géidigh has died suddenly at the age of 54.

From An Ardaí Bheag in Gort an Choirce in the Donegal Gaeltacht, Séamus had been working with Raidió na Gaeltachta since 1988.

Manager of its northwest service based in the Doirí Beaga studio since 2004, he was a highly-respected gaelic games broadcaster and commentator. On Saturday, he commentated on Donegal's superb Ulster SFC semi-final replay victory over Monaghan at Breffni Park.

Séamus was appointed by GAA president Aogán Ó Fearghail to the GAA Irish Language Committee and the Cavan man was one of the first to pay tribute to him.
