Team news: O'Sullivan to make long awaited championship debut

June 10, 2016

Meath's Cillian O'Sullivan with Tyrone's Mattie Donnelly, Tiernan McCann and Sean Cavanagh during the NFL Division 2 game at Pairc Tailteann.

Cillian O'Sullivan is one of four debutants in the Meath starting fifteen named to face Louth in the Leinster SFC quarter-final at Parnell Park on Sunday.

The Moynalvey clubman makes his long awaited championship bow at left half-forward after recovering from a career-threatening back injury which saw him out of action for two years.

Manager Mick O'Dowd has also handed out debuts to 2016 newcomers Darragh Smith and Alan Douglas in the wing-back positions and Cian O'Brien at right half-forward.

Captain Donal Keogan will wear the number three jersey in the absence of regular full-back Conor McGill, who misses out due to a broken collarbone while James McEntee is also injured.

Keogan, Donnacha Tobin, Padraic Harnan, Harry Rooney, Andrew Tormey, Graham Reilly, Eamon Wallace and Michael Newman are the survivors from last year's qualifier loss to Tyrone.

Meath (SFC v Louth): Paddy O'Rourke; Donnacha Tobin, Donal Keogan, Mickey Burke; Darragh Smyth, Padraic Harnan, Alan Douglas; Harry Rooney, Andrew Tormey; Cian O'Brien, Graham Reilly, Cillian O'Sullivan; Eamon Wallace, Dalton McDonagh, Michael Newman.
