Antrim play Kildare in the opening round of the Christy Ring Cup

Antrim county board have indicated this morning that they will fulfil the fixture for this Saturday's Christy Ring Cup final replay in Newry.

Meath were presented with the trophy in Croke Park last Saturday but it emerged afterwards that there had been a mistake with the final score and that the game in fact should have ended in a draw.

After convening on Tuesday, the Central Competitions Control Committee ordered a replay to be played between the two teams this Saturday in Newry at 7pm and after originally indicating that they'd no desire to replay the final, the Royal County last night proposed for the fixture to be switched to June 18th in the interest of "players welfare" and "appropriate preparation".

Speaking to RTE Radio's Morning Ireland programme this morning, Antrim secretary Frankie Quinn says they intend to turn up at Pairc Esler for the scheduled replay on Saturday evening.

Croke Park have yet to comment on Meath's proposal to switching the game to Saturday week, a date that would cause problems for Antrim as they are fixed to play Derry in an Ulster SHC semi-final the following day.
