Seanie Johnston admits Cavan will need to improve if they're to upset Tyrone in the Ulster SFC semi-final.

Terry Hyland's men comfortably saw off Armagh's disappointing challenge at Kingspan Breffni Park this afternoon, but Johnston knows Tyrone on June 19 in Clones will represent a step-up in class.

"We came here as favourites and everyone bigged us up that we'd win. We're happy that we were able to prove people right," the Cavan Gaels clubman told RTE.

"We knew they would come hard after we gave them a bit of a beating when they came here in the National League."

The experienced corner forward, who marked his first championship start for Cavan in five years with a seven-point haul, warned: "It won't be enough to win in three weeks' time and we're playing the second best team in the country at the minute, a team hell bent on winning an Ulster championship.

"We have to try and close that gap in the next three weeks."
