Westmeath manager Michael Ryan has put the secret of their success down to hard work.

The Midlanders won the Division 2A title this year and remain unbeaten in the Leinster SHC round robin series.

They have now qualified for the provincial quarterfinal where they more than likely will face Galway.

It has been a good year so far for the Lake County and Ryan told the Westmeath Examiner that they are taking it all in their stride.

"We have a lot of talented hurlers and have a very young team. We've probably only three players more than 25 years of age. We're working away at it, but there will be setbacks," said Ryan.

"We're not going to get excited either way. We have a really good set up. We are working hard and there are no egos."
