Championship scalp inevitable, says New York boss

April 28, 2016

Donegal will face New York in two challenge matches ahead of the counties' respective provincial championship campaigns.

Justin O'Halloran says he's confident of New York causing an upset in the Connacht senior football championship "sooner or later".

The Exiles face Roscommon in the Bronx this Sunday as the All-Ireland championship officially gets underway and their manager says he sees plenty of similarities between the current team and the one that pushed Galway close in their provincial opener in 2010.

"It's the biggest day for GAA in New York every year and sooner or later it will happen that we'll take a scalp and hopefully it'll be this year," O'Halloran stated.

"And if it does, it's only going to get bigger and bigger every year, so I would love to see it keep going and I'm sure 99pc of the people in New York would love to see it keep going."

Throw-in at Gaelic Park on Sunday is at 4pm (9pm Irish time).
