An investigation has been launched by Cushendall Ruairi Og into claims that over £100,000 has gone missing from the club's accounts over a number of years.

Club members are due to meet next Thursday evening to discuss the findings of the probe. The allegations have rocked the north Antrim club who contested the All-Ireland club hurling final against Limerick side Na Piarsaigh only a fortnight ago.

"I can't really discuss anything at the moment, but we need to bring things up with our members," Cushendall secretary Martin Magee told the Irish News.

"Things have been brought to our attention and they are being investigated. At the meeting next Thursday, hopefully everything will be announced."

He added: "There has not been anything proven. The meeting next week is a normal members' meeting. There are some things we have investigated. We don't have anything concrete to move forward."

Meanwhile, Cushendall is seeking applications for the role of senior hurling manager following John McKillop's decision to step down.
