'Dinky' ready to face former team-mates

Monaghan Under 21 manager Ciaran McBride

Ciaran 'Dinky' McBride admits it will be difficult facing some of his former Tyrone team-mates in next week's Ulster U21FC final.

The Monaghan manager will pit his wits against the Red Hand management trio of Fergal Logan, Brian Dooher and Peter Canavan in Wednesday's provincial decider at the Athletic Grounds.

"They're my old buddies and when you come from a county like Tyrone, it's your life blood and that's never going to change," McBride is quoted in the Irish Daily Star.

"Peter and Brian are two legends of Tyrone football and what else can you say about Fergal except that he's a gentleman. And he's my solicitor!

"It isn't easy to come up against your old sparring partners at county level, but that's the challenge ahead now. When you've been given an opportunity by another county, as I have been blessed to get with Monaghan, then you do your very best for them.

"Monaghan have been very loyal and are supportive of me. So I will be fighting and dying in Monaghan colours next week and will be very proud to wear them."
