Waterford boss Derek McGrath says he expects his side to come up against a strong Kilkenny starting 15 for Sunday's National League opener at Walsh Park.

Brian Cody's side largely experimented in last month's Walsh Cup, losing out to Offaly in the process, but McGrath expects the Deise men to come up against a team more familiar to the one they lost to last August at Croke Park.

"I'd expect a situation whereby we'll try and use as many as we did in the All-Ireland semi-final," McGrath told the Irish Examiner.

"I think Kilkenny will come with 12 or 13 of the team that played because they won't want to be in the same situation as last year when they were in a relegation match."

The De La Salle clubman also outlined that he doesn't see much difference between his side and some of Munster's finest as they get set to embark on their Divison 1A campaign.

"I don't see any difference between ourselves, Wexford, Limerick and Clare. Limerick won an U21, a Munster senior championship," he said.

Throw-in at Walsh Park is at 2pm.
