Tipperary 2-7
Clare 1-7

Brian Fox's late goal was the difference as Tipperary edged out neighbours Clare for their first win in Division 3 at a rain-sodden Sean Treacy Park.

The Banner, who accounted for Sligo in the first round, were left to rue 10 first half wides while playing with the wind as Conor Sweeney's third minute goal after Philip Austin had fired against the crossbar helped Liam Kearns' charges of a 1-4 to 0-4 interval lead.

Jamie Malone brought Clare level (1-7 apiece) with a superb 61st minute strike, but Tipp captain Peter Acheson set up Fox for what proved the winning score a minute later.
