Rebels to wear blue

Cork will wear a blue jersey for the NHL league clash with Kilkenny

Cork's hurlers will wear blue jerseys for their NHL Division 1A clash with Kilkenny on March 12th.

The Rebels sported a blue jersey with a large yellow 'C' on the front during the early years of last century and are reverting to that colour scheme as part of the County Board's 1916 Easter Rising commemorations reports the Irish Examiner.

The Leesiders still donned blue and yellow up until 1919 but their offices were raided by British forces prior to the Munster championship meeting with Tipperary that year and those jerseys were seized.

They borrowed red and white jerseys from the Fr O'Leary Total Abstinence Hall team, who no longer needed them as they had amalgamated with St Finbarr's, and never reverted to blue.

Until now.
