Colm Cooper is ahead of schedule in his recuperation from a shoulder injury and is expected to return to Kerry training ahead of their Division 1 league opener against Dublin.

The Irish Independent reports that the Gooch, who underwent minor shoulder surgery in December, could make an earlier than expected return to action.

Eamonn Fitzmaurice is planning without the services of Kieran O'Leary (Achilles), Paul (back) and Mikey (back) Geaney, Anthony Maher (hip) and Peter Crowley (shoulder) for the early rounds of the league.

Former Footballer of the Year James O'Donoghue is not expected feature in the league as he also underwent the knife to correct a shoulder injury in December.

Former All-Ireland minor winners Brian O Beaglaoich and Tom O'Sullivan have been included in the Kingdom's league squad.
