Tyrone will face Derry in next Saturday's Dr McKenna Cup final after both sides came through their respective semi-finals this afternoon.

Mickey Harte's men produced another sterling second-half display to deny Fermanagh in Clones and stay on course for their bid for a fifth successive triumph in the competition.

It was the Ernesiders whom had made the better start at St Tiernach's Park, with their talisman Sean Quigley registering their first three points before Conor McAliskey eventually got Tyrone off the mark via a 16th minute free. Mark Bradley backed his fellow attacker up with two frees of his own to help the Red Hands draw level by the break on 0-4 apiece.

The holders introduced All Star midfielder Sean Cavanagh to the fray early in the second-half and through McAliskey they'd have their first lead and never look back from it, as Richie Donnelly moved his side three in front and when Eoin Donnelly picked up a second yellow card the underdogs really began to dwindle.

Quigley pulled one back for Pete McGrath's men but when McAliskey snuck in for the game's only goal Tyrone's 1-13 to 0-9 victory was sealed.

In Armagh, Derry put forth a second quarter blitz to hand Cavan their first defeat of 2016 on a 1-17 to 1-10 score-line.

The game had been level on 0-4 each when the Oak Leafers were awarded a penalty which Ryan Bell dually dispatched and from there they outscored the Breffni men by 0-6 to 0-2 to take in a commanding seven-point lead at the break.

Killian Clarke registered a second-half goal for the Blues, while Seanie Johnston and Eugene Keating came off the bench to kick points, but Damien Barton's men ensured their passage into the final with scores from Bell, Danny Heavron, Cailean O'Boyle and Emmet Bradley.
