Donegal manager Rory Gallagher has drafted goalkeeper Peter Boyle into his squad.

The Aodh Ruadh shot stopper was part of the squad for last weekend's defeat to St Mary's College and he will be given the opportunity to shine in the coming weeks.

Boyle was in goals when Donegal won the Ulster under-21 championship under Jim McGuinness and he is considered one of the top 'keepers in the county.

A number of injuries to goalkeepers has forced Gallagher to draft in Boyle and the manager told the Donegal Democrat that he will be given the chance to impress.

"We've brought Peter in for cover after Mark Anthony McGinley suffered an injury before the Down game," said Gallagher.

"We were down to one fit 'keeper and we needed the cover but we will now have a look at him over the next few weeks and see how he gets on. Mark Anthony is making good progress and should be fit to return at the weekend."
