Tyrone boss Mickey Harte says he is dreading the thoughts of having to cut his panel for the start of the National Football League.

The Red Hands open their Division Two campaign at home to Cavan on January 31th, by which time Harte will need to have his squad in place and with seven newcomers drafted into his McKenna Cup panel, the three-time All-Ireland winner knows he will have a tough job on his hands given the team's impressive performances thus far in 2016.

"It's always difficult. It's very easy to invite players into a panel, but it's very difficult to ask them not to stay," Harte told the Irish Independent.

"So that's always a big challenge, and it doesn't matter what the level of competition is like, it's a job no-one likes doing in management.

"But unfortunately because there's a certain number of constraints that have to be placed upon us, those decisions have to be made.

"The players are making that difficult for us, but that's where we are."
