Former Kildare senior football manager Jason Ryan has joined Wexford Youths FC as a pre-season strength and conditioning coach.

The Irish Sun reports that Ryan was part of the newly promoted League of Ireland side's first training session at Ferrycarrig Park, where he has signed a two month contract with the club.

Ryan, who played inter-county football with both London and his native Waterford, stepped down as Kildare manager last year after two seasons in charge of Lilywhites, with his last game ending in a 27-point All-Ireland SFC quarter-final defeat to Kerry.

The De La Salle club man was also in charge of Wexford for five years, leading them to an All-Ireland SFC semi-final in his first season in charge in 2008.
