Jack Fagan celebrates after scoring a goal for Meath.

Meath hurler Jack Fagan is switching his club allegiance from Rathmolyon to De La Salle in Waterford.

One of the Royal County's promising young players, Fagan, who made his senior inter-county debut in 2015, scored a goal for IT Carlow against Wexford in last Saturday's Walsh Cup encounter.

"Jack attended our annual meeting and explained his dilemma to the members of the club, it was a very honest approach and there was a lot of emotion on the night as he is one of the best players in the county," Rathmolyon secretary Niamh Regan remarked to The Meath Chronicle.

"While we are disappointed that we will be losing Jack, there was unanimous agreement at the meeting that we had to make the correct decision and we signed the transfer form."

It is understood that Fagan, who was a member of the Royal team that lost last year's All-Ireland U21 B decider to Wicklow, will be given a chance to impress Waterford hurling boss Derek McGrath and his backroom team.
