Australia trained at the multi-million dollar New York Jets indoor training facility on Saturday after cancelling their planned warm-up game against New York in Rocklands.

Alastair Clarkson's squad played a practice match among themselves after a pitch inspection by an independent body deemed that the Rocklands surface wasn't suitable for "elite" professionals. Ironically, the practice match was played on artificial turf, which was given as the reason why they initially refused to play New York in Gaelic Park.

Clarkson oversaw the session along with Ross Lyon, Chris Scott and chairman of selectors Gerard Healy.

The Australians, who have named Luke Hodge as their captain, are due to have another workout today in the Big Apple before leaving for Ireland ahead of Saturday's International Rules Test at Croke Park.
