Darren Hughes left Brewster Park yesterday with the praise of Scotstown manager Mattie McGleenan ringing in his ears.

The in-form Monaghan and Ireland star scored 2-2 as Scotstown edged out Trillick to reach their first Ulster club SFC final since 1989 where they will face the might of Crossmaglen.

"Darren had a super game today, his two goals and his movement and positioning for the first goal was absolutely fantastic, a lovely wee knockdown into the corner of the net, it was class," McGleenan gushed in the Irish News.

The former Tyrone attacker was also full of praise for Trillick.

"Trillick aren't Tyrone champions for nothing. It's some championship to win and it takes some team to win a Tyrone championship," he added.

"We knew they were going to keep going to the final whistle, and our job was to make sure we get a couple of scores and get a bit of breathing space. And that's what it came down to.

"Trillick have had a fabulous season. They came out of intermediate football last season. I don't think it was ever done, where you turn around and win a senior championship."
