Donegal's old guard are set to soldier on for another year after it was confirmed there have been no retirements from the squad.

Manager Rory Gallagher has added a dozen new players to his panel and released a further six, while Declan Walsh is unavailable due to study commitments.

Eight of the newcomers were involved with the Donegal minor team that reached last year's All-Ireland final, and Gallagher expects that experience to stand to them.

"They have all played on big days, albeit not at senior level. Yes, they're young, but they're very much capable of stepping up," he told the Donegal Sport Hub.

Gallagher is also delighted to be once again able to call on long-serving stars such as Colm McFadden, Christy Toye, Neil Gallagher, David Walsh, the McGee brothers, Eamon and Neil, and former Footballer of the Year Karl Lacey.

The newcomers are: Danny Rodgers (Dungloe), Stephen McMenamin (Red Hughs), Kieran Gillespie (Gaoth Dobhair), Michael Carroll (Gaoth Dobhair), Eoghan Ban Gallagher (Killybegs), Ciaran Thompson (Naomh Conaill), Stephen McBrearty (Kilcar), Caolan McGonigle (Buncrana), Jack O'Brien (Naomh Muire), Tony McClenaghan (Moville), Rory Carr (St Eunan's) and Caolan Ward (St Eunan's).
