Cargin manager John Brennan has claimed that midfielder Michael McCann was bitten by a Crossmaglen player during a second-half melee in today's match at the Athletic Grounds.

"We had a player who was bitten out there," he revealed to The Irish News.

"Michael McCann was bitten on the neck and that's why the fisty-cuffs started out there and they had another player who came in and struck."

The player later confirmed his manager's version of events but refused to identify the culprit.

Crossmaglen joint manager John McEntee, meanwhile, hit back: "It sounds ridiculous to me.

"I would have thought that John would have been magnanimous in defeat and just take it on the chin, there were a lot of incidents we could all talk about.

"It was a very clean game given the competitiveness of it."
