Trillick manager Nigel Seaney hailed his "intelligent" players following yesterday's Tyrone SFC final success.

The Mattie Donnelly captained outfit overcame Killyclogher by the narrowest of margins -1-9 to 0-11 - to get their hands on the O'Neill Cup for the first time since 1986.

After the final whistle, Seaney told the Irish News: "There's good footballers our there, intelligent players.

"Intelligent players know how to read the game, know how to manage the game, know not to commit too many forward.

"And when a team sits back and sits deep, if you over-commit, you're going to get burned.

"So the team itself knew that, and at a stage like that, you can afford no mistakes, full-stop."

Seaney's Killyclogher counterpart Kieran Howe said his team failed to do themselves justice: "It's an understatement to say that we're disappointed. We were like rabbits caught in headlights.

"We had 21 shots in the game and missed more than half of them, and that was the difference when it came down in the end."
