Sarsfields 1-13

Glen Rovers have been crowned Cork senior hurling champions for the first time in 26 years and for a 26th time after powering to victory over holders Sarsfields at Pairc Ui Rinn.

The Glen avenged their 16-point hammering in last year's final to end their long wait for Sean Og Murphy Cup honours. The sides were level six times during the opening half before late points from David Cunningham and county star Patrick Horgan gave them a 0-10 to 0-8 lead at the interval.

With captain Graham Callanan outstanding at wing back, the city side gradually took control after the restart. They had moved into a 0-15 to 0-10 lead before goalkeeper Cathal Hickey made a stunning save to deny Cian McCarthy at the expense of a '65', which the Sars man converted.

The game then took a decisive turn in the Glen's favour when Cunningham rattled the net in the 49th minute to extend their lead to 1-15 to 0-11. Four minutes later, wing back David Dooling grabbed a second goal for the Blackpool side to put the result beyond doubt.

McCarthy managed a late consolation goal for a well beaten Sarsfields outfit.
