Oisin McConville celebrates another Crossmaglen win

Crossmaglen manager Oisin McConville never gets tired of winning the county championship.

The Armagh kingpins are chasing a remarkable 19th success from the last 20 years this weekend and former county star Aaron Kernan is their main injury concern ahead of the showdown against Armagh Harps.

"We have been hit hard with injuries over the past few months, but something that is great for clearing up injuries is a county final," McConville quipped when speaking to The Irish Independent.

"There's a lot of lads who have a lot of miles on the clock. Aaron is our biggest doubt at the minute, we're not sure if he'll make it.

"From the outside looking in, people might think that a county championship isn't celebrated in Cross' but that's not how it is.

"People realise it's a special thing. The only difference is the celebrations don't spill into the Monday and the Tuesday."

Cross' experienced little difficulty in disposing of the Armagh Harps challenge 12 months ago but McConville cautioned: "In the final last year (Harps) started well but they just didn't kick the ball over the bar.

"I suppose this time around the nerves and build up and everything that goes with a county final won't be an issue for them this time. We have to go out and perform."
