Stack to face home club in third County final

Clonlara manager Sean Stack was delighted to see his side through to the county SHC final, but stressed that they needed to improve against Sixmilebridge.

A comfortable replay win over Kilmaley last weekend has earned Clonlara another crack at the title, but Stack told the Clare Champion that their performances have been very mixed so far this year.

Stack has developed a massive reputation as a coach and he has guided numerous clubs to success both in Clare and other counties, but he admitted that facing his home club was never easy.

"We have had up days and down days," said Stack. We had a bad performance against Clarecastle in the first round, played really well in the replay, a poorish enough display against Newmarket in the first half and very poor the last day. We came out against Kilmaley and when we realised that hurling is to be enjoyed, they got their movements together, they attacked the ball.

"We have some superb hurlers. John Conlon was a Colossus again. Look, we hope we don't have a down day in the final.

"We are there now, it's ourselves and the 'Bridge. Everyone is going to enjoy it, except myself. It's my third time against the 'Bridge in finals, I am a Bridge man to the core."
