Cootehill were crowned Cavan senior hurling champions for a fourth time after seeing off Mullahoran in a low-scoring replay at Kingspan Breffni Park last night.

Stephen Harten opened the scoring for Mullahoran from a free, but they failed to score again in the opening half with John Carney's two points helping the winners to a 0-3 to 0-1 half-time lead.

Cootehill extended their advantage to 0-5 to 0-1 before Mullahoran reduced the deficit to two through substitute Derrick Dalton with 10 minutes remaining. However, Cootehill were able to hit back with a pair of late points from Caoimhin Carney to retain their title.
