Derry will not be rushed into appointing a successor to Brian McIver.

The County Board are currently in the process of working their way through nominations and chairman Brian Smith told The Irish News that they will take their time before announcing the identity of Derry's next senior football manager:

"There's a programme we follow when we're searching for a new manager and it's all an internal structure between the clubs and the county committee. We're just working at that at this moment in time.

"We're processing the nominations. I would have no problem with the candidates that are coming forward; anybody who comes forward is passionate about what they want to do and how they want to move Derry forward and that's good enough for me.

"We'll be aiming for September/October but there's no guarantee until we have all our 'i's dotted - we'll not be rushing into it."
