Antrim will begin their search for a new hurling manager from "a blank canvas".

The hunt for Kevin Ryan's successor started last night with clubs invited to submit nominations to the County Board. PRO Sean Fleming says the clubs will untimately decide who takes charge of the Glensmen in 2016 and that there are no preconceived notions as to who should be approached:

"It is actually a blank canvas," he tells The Irish News. "We are giving the clubs their say, let them put their names forward. It hasn't been debated whether or not we're looking at an Antrim man or an outsider.

"We've had outsiders this past number of years. Hopefully, an Antrim man's name comes up, but that doesn't mean we won't consider an outsider. We will take the best man, that's basically it.

"The clubs are going to be invited to put forward names of people for the post. Normally, what we do is we give them three or four weeks, I don't know the exact dates. We're not going to be rushing into it, just to make an appointment - we've got plenty of time. We're not up and going again until January, but we would hope to have someone in place by November."

After Antrim suffered a double relegation this year, the new manager will begin life in Division 2A of the league and the Christy Ring Cup.
