Why did McCann hearing go on half the night?

Anger and frustration has been expressed on social media over the length of time it took the Central Hearings Committee to rule on Tiernan McCann's case in Dublin last night.

As expected, McCann's appeal against a proposed eight-week ban for diving during the recent All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Monaghan was lifted, which means he's eligible to line out for Tyrone against Kerry on Sunday. However, it wasn't until the early hours of the morning that a verdict was reached, which made for a very late night for the Killyclogher man, and to a number of media outlets 'jumping the gun' by speculating that the player had got off (luckily for them he did).

Hardly ideal preparation for Sunday's game, not to mention for the day's work ahead of him!
