Derry and the GAA world are mourning the death of Ballinderry and Derry footballer Aaron Devlin.
The 22-year-old had been on a life support machine at the Antrim Area Hospital since he took ill during a club challenge match last week. It was revealed on Sunday that he was battling an aggressive strain of meningitis.
The entire GAA community inside and outside Derry had rallied around the Devlin family all week as word spread of Aaron's fight for his life.
But, sadly, it has been confirmed this evening that the popular young footballer has died.
Ballinderry Shamrocks GAC have issued a tweet to confirm the terrible news.
TweetWe are sad to inform that Aaron Devlin has sadly passed away, please continue to pray and support Aarons family at this sad time. #RIP #HERO
