A quarter-final clash against Galway is the prize up for grabs for Dublin and Limerick in Semple Stadium this evening.

After the harrowing Leinster SHC quarter-final replay defeat they suffered at the hands of the Tribesmen, you would have to imagine that Ger Cunningham and his players would relish the opportunity to right that wrong.

That said, they face a Limerick team who also have a point to prove following their Munster SHC  semi-final loss to Tipperary.

Both teams learned little in their respective round 1 wins last weekend. The Metropolitans dished out a 4-17 to 0-10 beating to Laois while the Shannonsiders, though a long way off their best, recorded a workmanlike 4-15 to 1-12 victory over Westmeath.

Michael Carton's departure from the Dublin squad is a headache Cunningham could have done without.

The Dublin manager and his selectors have stuck with the winning formula from last weekend which means Gary Maguire, Niall Corcoran, Shane Barrett, Johnny McCaffrey, Cian Boland, Eamon Dillon and Paul Ryan all retained their places.

Meanwhile, Seamus Hickey and Declan Hannon have been recalled to the Treaty County starting 15.

All-Star corner-back Hickey comes in for the injured Tom Condon (collarbone) while Hannon takes over in the number 11 jersey from Seanie Tobin.

Verdict - Limerick.
