Donegal attacker Patrick McBrearty is enjoying his new brief closer to the posts.

McBrearty caught the eye as the lone full forward as the holders defeated Armagh in Sunday's Ulster SFC quarter-final at the Athletic Grounds and the 21-year-old is thankful that manager Rory Gallagher is prepared to position him there:

"I've been working with Rory for five or six years now with underage teams at Kilcar and Donegal, so it's great to have someone like him on board," he notes in The Irish News.

"For three or four years I was playing out of position, which I gladly did, but I'm closer to goal where I'd rather be and I'm enjoying my football.

"When you're playing well, you're enjoying your football and there's a long season ahead yet. You've to win five or six games to win the All-Ireland but at the minute I'm really enjoying it.

"No doubt about it, Ulster is the toughest route to go but you gain confidence with games and we're loving it at the minute."
