All Star centre-back Liam Rushe is still trying to get used to his new role in the Dublin attack.

His repositioning by Ger Cunningham is akin to starting all over again for the 24-year-old who is focussed on Sunday's Leinster SHC quarter-final date with Galway.

"I was like a fish out of water at the start," he remarked to The Irish Daily Star. "I'm definitely more comfortable in the half-forward line. The full-forward line is an awkward position to play.

"You have to be so patient and so economical with the ball you get, or you'll be getting the fishing road early on.

"You have to be mentally strong because if you lose a ball you mightn't see it for six or seven minutes.

"You can easily dwell on that ball you lost and you have to keep telling yourself you're going to win the next one.

"It (full-forward) was something we tried earlier in my career and I thought we had come to the conclusion it wasn't a flier or maybe by the time I was moved out of there I was only getting used to it and all of a sudden you're out again.

"I thought we had abandoned it. It takes a while. You're not playing there underage or with the club and then you're playing there at inter-county. It's a big leap to take."
