2015 has been a year to forget for the Antrim hurlers who travel to Carlow tomorrow with a slim chance of making the championship proper.

Kevin Ryan's charges need to secure a sizeable victory if they are to have any chance of making amends for the 17-point defeat suffered at the hands of Westmeath last time out but they must line out without captain Neil McManus whose season has been brought to a premature end by a knee injury.

At this stage, you'd imagine Ryan and his players would settle for a positive result of any description just to avoid the prospect of relegation to the Christy Ring Cup.

Carlow also have an outside chance of a top two finish but they are currently bottom of the table having finished on the wrong end of the scorelines against Westmeath and Laois.

Pat English's side must overcome Antrim and hope that Westmeath defeat Laois so that scoring difference will come into play.

When the two side met last year, the Saffrons enjoyed a 2-18 to 1-17 victory.

Verdict - Antrim.

Match details: Sunday, Netwatch Cullen Park, 2pm.
