O'Brien bemoans lack of discipline

Wicklow's Eugene Dunne is sent off by referee David Hughes during the opening round of the Ring Cup at Trim.

Wicklow manager Casey O'Brien was disappointed with the lack of discipline his side displayed in their defeat to Meath in the Christy Ring Cup last Saturday.

The Garden County finished the match with 13 men after team captain John Henderson was sent off after nine minutes, while Eugene Dunne was dismissed late on.

Meath ran out convincing winners in the end and O'Brien stressed to the Wicklow People that the result could have been a lot different if it remained 15 v. 15.

"I'm totally disappointed with the discipline. We preached all week and we knew what was happening and we knew the game was under the spotlight and we knew that if we had a man sent off that heads would drop," said O'Brien.

This Saturday, Wicklow travel to Down where they will take on the home side and a second defeat would see their interest in the championship come to an end.
