Noel Connors says Waterford's league final win over Cork will have no bearing on their Munster SHC clash with the Rebels on June 7th.

Na Deise recorded a ten-point victory at Thurles in the league decider on Sunday but Connors accepts that it will be a whole new ball game when they return to Semple Stadium to face the same opposition in 33 days:

"Look, championship is championship and you'd be foolish to think what is happening today will have a massive bearing on it. Any day you go out and play a seventy minute game it is totally different," the Passage East clubman is quoted in The Irish Times.

"It is not as if I am going to slip in the same position or as if, we'll say, the Brick will score in the same position. It is a totally irrelevant and anyone who thinks it is going to be the same is naive.

"Any time you win a national title it's great, especially with a great bunch of young lads that really want to work hard for each other; and that have put so much effort in over the last few months, with a small bit of criticism from the offset.

"Derek [McGrath, manager] probably took the brunt of that, but maybe that instilled a small bit of belief in us, because we wanted to kick on and prove to ourselves that we were there or thereabouts and competing with the top."
