Fergal Logan is hoping for better luck in his second year as Tyrone U-21 football manager.

His first year in charge ended with a seven point defeat to Cavan but he is not dwelling on that ahead of tonight's home clash against Fermanagh.

"We had a bad night against Cavan in Breffni Park last year - but there's no point in us talking about last year," he pointed out to The Irish News.

"We're just looking forward to this year's competition and Fermanagh at Healy Park.

"Fermanagh have some excellent feeder schools, particularly St Michael's, Enniskillen who have some quality footballers.

"It wasn't so long ago they were winning Hogan Cups. So we'll have plenty to deal with as they have quality players."

Logan's backroom team includes Tyrone legends Peter Canavan and Brian Dooher and preparations have gone well.

"It's a very quick and sharp, shock type of competition. It's back to old-school championship football. There is no back door, no second bites at it. So there is an intrigue with it.

"Our preparations have been grand. The players have put in a lot of hard work and that's what's required from all grades nowadays and we're hoping it comes together."
