Eamon Fitzmaurice says Kerry legend Colm Cooper still isn't ready to resume his intercounty career.

It's been 54 weeks since the Kingdom attacking sensation ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee representing Dr Crokes against Castlebar Mitchels in an All-Ireland club semi-final at Portlaoise and Kerry manager Fitzmaurice has revealed that the eight times All Star's comeback is behind schedule:

"We did say mid-March initially, but it will be later than that now," the 2014 All-Ireland winning boss is quoted in The Irish Times.

"He's just not ready yet. So I'm reluctant to put another date on it. When he's ready he's ready, and we'll give him as much action as we can. Will it be before the end of March? I'm not sure.

"He wants to get going. He's done a lot of individual work, and with some small groups, and that can be testing, because he wants to be back in the main group."
