Ronan McCarthy has re-joined the Cork senior football backroom team as a selector.

The former Rebel defender stepped down last August due to work commitments but his reappointment was unanimously approved at last night's County Board meeting.

Manager Brian Cuthbert explained: "It was always the intention that Ronan would return to the management team later in the season but circumstances facilitate an immediate return. 

"Ronan will be a big asset to the group going forward."
