The 2014 Donegal football squad have finally jetted off on their team holiday.

The timing and location of their holiday come under fire from some quarters over the last few months.

However, the squad, management and officials flew out to Dubai earlier this morning for a seven-day holiday.

All of the 2014 squad apart from Paddy McGrath has gone on the holiday, while last year's manager Jim McGuinness and selectors Damien Diver and John Duffy have not travelled either.

Duffy told the Donegal Democrat that he could not travel due to work commitments, but stressed that something should have been done to compensate those who could not travel.

"I couldn't go because of family commitments and all I'm looking for is a voucher for a holiday at another time of the year and nothing more or less," said Duffy.

"And I'm disappointed that myself and the others that aren't able to go couldn't be accommodated as they have been in the past."

County Board treasurer Cieran Kelly stated that under Croke Park regulations they were unable to hand out vouchers for holidays.
