Dessie Dolan says he won't be reversing his decision to retire from inter-county football.

The former All Star brought the curtain down on his 16-year Westmeath career last June, but his outstanding form for Garrycastle in their county championship success last autumn fuelled speculation that he could be coaxed back into the Lake County by new manager Tom Cribbin.

However, Dolan insisted in an interview with Midlands 103 this week that there will be no U-turn.

"I'm concentrating on Garrycastle - I'll be 36 during the summer," he said.

"It's not that I've fallen out of (love with) county football. My focus is on my wife, my family. I've a two-year-old boy at the minute and he's the future, not me!

"I think there are some fabulous players in Westmeath. You've got a nice blend, the likes of Denis Glennon and Kieran Gavin with some younger players like Ger Egan, Kieran Martin and Ray Connellan coming through and all these lads will be excellent footballers for Westmeath in years to come."
