Armagh manager Kieran McGeeney has had a pop at Division Three pacesetters Clare.

The Banner County are top of the division at present following their facile 1-16 to 0-5 opening-round victory over Wexford and McGeeney - whose side travel to Ennis for a vital Round Five contest on March 15th - is somewhat bemused by Colm Collins' decision not to participate in the McGrath Cup last month:

"Clare dropped out of the McGrath Cup - it would be interesting to see what would happen if I dropped out of the McKenna Cup - because they wanted to play stronger matches and they'll be prepared," the 2002 All-Ireland winning captain notes in The Irish News.

"When you see hurlers dropping out in a hurling county like Clare you can see how serious they're taking it.

"It's the same [with Tipperary], there are a lot of hurlers chosing to play football. Everybody is looking to step up to the mark and push on with their teams."
