Cork 4-15
CIT 1-13

For the second week running, Cork had to dig deep to see off the challenge of a college outfit in the Waterford Crystal Cup.

Last week a highly rated UL side pushed the Rebels all the way and today CIT just came up short in their bid to claim a county scalp.

Goals from Darren McCarthy and Stephen Moylan gave Jimmy Barry-Murphy's side a slender 2-6 to 1-7 interval lead.

CIT gave as good as they got for most of the second-half but late green flags from Daniel Kearney and goalkeeper turned corner-forward McCarthy, who finished with 2-2 to his name, sounded the death knell for their semi-final bid.

Cork now await the winners of tomorrow's last eight clash between Tipperary and Clare in next weekend's semi-final.
