Donegal and Fermanagh defeated Queen's University and Derry respectively in Section B of the McKenna Cup.

Donegal's 2-16 to 1-8 win over Queen's at a rain-washed Ballybofey handed Rory Gallagher his first win as manager. Last year's All-Ireland finalists were never troubled after Martin O'Reilly and Eamon Ward raised green flags in the first half.

At Brewster Park, Seamus Quigley's goal with five minutes to go gave Fermanagh a surprise 1-9 to 1-7 victory over Derry.

The Ernemen signalled their intent with early points from Eamon McHugh and James McMahon, but Derry battled back to lead by 0-5 to 0-4 at half-time before Barry Heron's goal 10 minutes after the restart put them in a winning position.

Fermanagh, however, rallied for the win.
