Tyrone's Sean Cavanagh with Cathal McCarron warm up before the opening round of the McKenna Cup against Armagh. INPHO

Sean Cavanagh could play out the remainder of his Tyrone career at full forward.

The former Footballer of the Year wore the number 14 jersey in last Sunday's McKenna Cup opening round win over Armagh, having played nearly all of his inter-county football up until now at midfield.

"I'm sort of coming to the stage of my career that you are just happy to get a jersey," he said in the Tyrone Constitution.

"It may be a cliché, but you realise that the legs sometimes, whenever you're out the field, a bit more is taken out of them than what they're able to go for you.

"Being on the edge of the square is something that I'm used to with my club, so it wasn't all that foreign for me, and I enjoyed the occasion."
