Development work at Dr Hyde Park can proceed after Roscommon Gaels signed an agreement enabling the County Committee to take ownership of the county grounds.

Roscommon chairperson Michael Fahey said he was delighted that the long running saga has been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.

"As County Chairperson I feel that the agreement will be beneficial to both Roscommon GAA County Board and Roscommon Gaels and will allow the County Committee to under take a programme of development and improvement at Dr. Hyde Park.

The revamped Dr. Hyde Park will provide the GAA in the county with a stadium that all followers of Gaelic Games in Roscommon can be proud of.

Roscommon Gaels will benefit from the long term leases attached to the social centre and the training ground and the club can continue to concentrate on the development of their fine facilities at Lisnamult.

The redeveloped Dr. Hyde Park will result in a significant boost to the economy of Roscommon town and the County Committee look forward to working with all interested parties and hope that within the next three years the refurbished Stadium will be open for games.

"Great credit is due to all those who have been involved in the negotiations and the process which has led to this successful conclusion," Fahey added.
