Chrissy McKaigue feels that Saturday's Test will determine the future of the International Rules Series.

There have been a lot of calls in recent years for the hybrid game to be shelved and the Derry man believes an exciting match in Perth this weekend could revitalise the series:

"We probably are playing for the future of the competition," the Slaughtneil clubman notes in The Irish News. "There is no point saying anything else about it, we are playing for its future.

"Australia seem to have bought into it, though, and hopefully it is a really good test match.

"Look, the barometer of anything is what the players think of it and you ask any of the Australian boys or any of our lads what they think of it and they will all tell you that they want to play in it.

"It is a great honour for me to be playing alongside the likes of Michael Murphy, Sean Cavanagh and Conor McManus. You don't get that chance very often so it is a great honour to be going over and playing an Australian selection that is very strong."
