Eddie Brennan believes Henry Shefflin will opt to retire from intercounty hurling.

Ten-times All-Ireland winner Shefflin has yet to make any public decision regarding his future but his former Cats team-mate doesn't expect the Ballyhale Shamrocks legend to make himself available to Brian Cody in 2015:

"I suspect - and it's only a suspicion - that he may go," Brennan told RTE. "He has a club county final on Sunday and should they win that, it is going to carry him on.

"Maybe that will help him stay on, or whatever. Henry has been phenomenal and there is no superlatives left to describe the man. He has done it all. He is a standalone person in the GAA and owes the county nothing.

"I think if he did go, I don't think anyone would be complaining. Brian looks as if he has moulded another team to drive forward.

"Listening to Henry the night he was on Second Captains, you'd have to say that you can clearly see he is mulling over it. I'm sure he will consider a lot of factors. His body has been through the ringer."
