The late Luke Dolan

Former Strokestown footballer Luke Dolan, who was Ireland's oldest man, had passed away at the age of 108.

The Roscommon man was born on June 4th, 1906 and died on November 9th, 2014. He attributed his longevity to eating a boiled egg every day, a loving wife (Peggy passed away in 2005, aged 85) and sugar in his tea.

Luke Dolan starred on the Strokestown side that defeat Roscommon Town by 3-2 to 0-1 in the 1932 Roscommon SFC final.

He retained a great interest in gaelic games throughout his life.
