Kilkenny SHC: traditional giants make the drop

Kilkenny's most successful hurling, Tullaroan, have been demoted to the intermediate ranks following their 0-8 to 3-10 relegation final defeat to Fenian's in Freshford yesterday.

The 20-times senior kingpins were never in the game as the Johnstown men swooped for a brace of early goals which helped them to a 3-5 to 0-3 interval lead. The result means that Kilkenny stars Tommy and Padraic Walsh will be plying their trade outside the top flight in 2015, while their county team-mate JJ Delaney can look forward to senior hurling once again.

The attention switches to Nowlan Park this afternoon and the two Kilkenny SHC semi-finals. Holders Clara face Carrickshock in the first game, with Ballyhale Shamrocks and St. Martin's meeting in the second semi-final.
